Admission to the Creative American Music Program.
Admission to the Creative American Music Program is by audition and open to any student in the Frost School of Music regardless of major or principal instrument. Students completing the required courses will, in addition to their major, earn a Minor in Creative American Music.
Performance at the core
The Creative American Music Program is designed to develop the skills of performing songwriters. These student-artists will perform regularly while developing a significant catalog of original songs.
The Contemporary Performance Principal
Recognizing the fact that many talented songwriters do not have a background in traditional performance, the Frost School has created a new category of principal instrument to accommodate Creative American Music students who are not classical or jazz musicians. Contemporary Guitar, Voice, Bass, Keyboard, and Percussion (Drums) principals can choose to major in Music Business and Entertainment Industries, Media Writing and Production, and Music Engineering Technology.
